Dover Air Force Base

We arrived at the base a little concerned that the 10 campsites would be full.  No reservations are taken for this FamCamp but there was only 1 RV so we found a nice site with full hookups and got settled in.  Planes take off and land on a pretty regular bases but you get used to it quickly.  We actually enjoy watching the huge C5A's doing there thing.  The campground is delightful and another place we will visit again in the future.

We explored Dover a little.  It is the Capital of Delaware and has some lovely old buildings.

Homestead Campground

We spent two months in Pennsylvania at this campground.  We found it very comfortable and the staff very friendly.  We will be back.

These huge mushrooms grew while we were there and could support a Smurf Village

Old and New Travel Companions

August 18th was a mixed day.  My son Christopher turned 34, my daughter Dawn turned 43 which makes me very old.  The sad news however was the loss of Duncan our beloved travel companion.  He was 16 years old and as requested made it back to Pennsylvania to see the family.  He enjoyed traveling and visiting old and new friends.  We will miss him.
 He liked his naps
He liked to help me quilt
Liked hanging out with Sage
 Always ready for some attention

We had planned to hit the road and head to Delaware but Irene moved in and we decided to stay put.  Turned out to be a good move since Delaware asked all visitors to leave the state during the storm.  The area of Pennsylvania we were in got a lot of rain but no serious damage.
While waiting out the storm we visited the local SPCA.

We were adopted by two girls.  Shadow, all black, is about a year old.  Mistoffelees, (formerly Bootsy but it just didn't fit), the tuxedo is between 5 & 6.  They lived together and the shelter was hoping they would stay together and we agreed.  We are all getting used to each other but it is good to have furry friends on board.

Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

I met Pam, Ashley and Megan at the Faire and we had a good time.  We saw lots of interesting characters, vendors and shows.  Unfortunately it did start to rain but that seems to be tradition.
